The coop is finished!
Here are some pictures of the finished product...all we have to finish is putting a large run on this weekend possibly! The kids had a ball splatter painting the nesting box. |

While I'm here
I guess while I'm at the computer and it's storming outside again...I'll do a quick catch up of summer...well at least some of the things I got pictures of...and they are in no particular order of chronology.
Here is the strawberry bed in late spring as the blossoms set...we had a ton of strawberies! |
some other front yard pictures of the flowers I've been working on adding each year... |
Our newest Endeavor
Ok, So I know I'm not the best at updating our blog...maybe even the worst...but I have too much fun enjoying life to stop and sit at the computer to write about it...well at least most of the time...and I love being outside in the summer so it's especially hard for me to want to sit at the computer when I could be in the garden or flowerbeds or in the backyard watching our new little flock of chicks...
I've wanted chickens for several years now...and FINALLY one day a few weeks ago Brandon said, "do whatever you want" when I asked him about them again...so I knew I had to act quick...before he changed his mind...and that sunday at church I was talking to a friend at church that had mentioned that she had bought 25 chicks and needed to find a home for some...so I offered and after church told Brandon we needed to get started on a coop. I had to find a way to make it happen without much money cuz it just wasn't in our budget...and before you knew it we had wood, siding, roofing, and all the fixin's just given to us...thank you neighbors and friends...we only had to buy hinges...not to bad I thought... Now we have some 4 1/2 week old chicks of various breeds...I know one is a Partridge Rock, 3 are Barred Rocks, 1 is a white orpington, and the other 2 we are not sure of yet...as soon as they get the rest of their feathers we'll be able to tell better. We are all very excited...except maybe Brandon...but he is such a sweatheart to go along for the ride on another one of my crazy adventures...So now 2 weeks later after finding out about the chicks....they are home with us and the kids are having a ball with them and they really are fun to watch. And they are already eating bugs out of the yard...I hope they don'g get too fat on our earwigs...we have a ton of them :) ha ha ha ha !

About Me
- Christine
- I'm a mom of 4 great kids that make me smile and appreciate life every day. I am married to the best husband ever. He always puts me first and the kids next. We are the luckiest family ever. I love playing the piano, drawing and painting, redecorating our house, and most of all spending time with our family. However lately I just can't get enough of spending time outside in our yard planting and weeding...I'm adding trees and perennials this year. Cuddling up with books or spending time outside are a few of our favorite past-times.
